Mountain Aura Crystals

Arfvedsonite is a rare, black or bluish-black color that resembles sparks or fireworks. It is often sold as Astrophyllite as the two stones are similar but not the same. This stone was discovered first by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson in 1823. Arfvedsonite’s crystal structure is fibrous, rectangular needle-like prisms with a parallelogram as a base. It has a Mohs hardness of about 5 to 6. This stone is classed within the amphibole group of crystals. Arfvedsonite is formed in the plutonic rock, which is essentially liquid magma that has cooled underground. This slow process can take millions of years, which can allow for large crystal growth.
