Black Moonstone Is a member of the feldspar group that displays a silver schiller. An alternative name is Hecatolite. Moonstone as a stone can be numerous colors, including blue, grey, white, pink, peach, green and brown, as well as colorless. Moonstone has been used for centuries, including back in ancient civilizations. The Romans admired moonstone, as they believed it was derived from solidified rays of the Moon. The Romans associated moonstone with their lunar deities and valued the stone highly because they believed it was comprised of solidified rays of the moon. Thus giving Moonstone its name. Moonstone is safe in water temporarily but long-term water exposure could potentially damage your specimen. Moonstone has no known toxicity.
