Mountain Aura Crystals

Garnierite is the general name for a green nickel ore that is found in pockets and veins within weathered and Serpentinized rocks, and in this case, resides in Moonstone. It is otherwise known as “Green Moonstone”. Green Moonstone is a stone that is not rare but it is harder to acquire, and even harder to acquire specimens with moonstone flash. Garnierite in Moonstone has an almost neon effect to the color making it a very striking stone. Garnierite alone usually appears as a green mineral from the Feldspar family, ranging in color from light lime green to dark green and on occasion, brown. Garnierite varies in hardness, from soft and brittle to hard enough to carve. Garnierite Moonstone or “Green Moonstone” is water safe for short periods of time (ex. cleaning) but long-term exposure should be avoided as damage will occur.
