Mountain Aura Crystals

Gold Sheen Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass that forms when lava flow from a volcano cools rapidly with minimal crystal growth. Gold Sheen Obsidian is thought to form by patterns of gas bubbles remaining from the lava flow, aligned along layers created as the molten rock was flowing before being cooled. These bubbles are thought to produce effects creating the golden sheen although there could also be inclusion. Pure Obsidian is usually dark in appearance, though the color varies depending on the inclusions. Iron and other inclusions may give the Obsidian a dark brown to black color. Most black Obsidians contain inclusions of Magnetite. In some stones, the inclusion of clustered crystals of the mineral cristobalite in the black glass produces a snowflake pattern (snowflake obsidian). Rainbow sheen is caused by inclusions of magnetite nanoparticles.
