Mountain Aura Crystals

Scolecite is a member of the Zeolite family which forms in clusters of sharp, prismatic, stick like points, which often radiate outward in a fan or circle. There is no other mineral that shares Scolecite’s formation, making it highly distinctive. When sanded and polished, the streaks of these needles remain visible, almost in a tube like formation if cut across. If the stone was to be cracked in half, they would reappear – that is to say, even a smooth scolecite stone is not solid inside. When the needles are exposed to heat, they twist and curl up much like straw, which is where the name comes from – “skolecks” means “worm” in Greek. Scolecite is not water safe and is a fragile mineral.
