Info: This unique and hard to come by material is often called “Bumble Bee Jasper”. It forms in the country of Indonesia on the island of Java, near the hot vents of an active volcano named Mount Papandayan. Due to both its banding and its opaque qualities it has received many names and classifications however it does not really suit any given so far. To make things less complicated, we will comply and call it Jasper but it is actually not a Jasper or an Agate. It is a volcanic brew of materials that include: volcanic ash, Gypsum, Barite, Sulfur, and Orpiment. It can have quite amazing patterns with orbicular designs and is worth adding to the collection while you can. Bumble Bee Jasper is not water safe and does contain trace amounts of hazardous minerals. Please do not ingest this product and always provide safe storage around small children and pets.
