Info: Fuchsite, also known as chrome mica, is a green-coloured chromium-rich variety of the mineral muscovite. The amount of Chromium will dictate the shade of green, the more Chromium, the darker the specimen. Fuchsite fluoresces lime green under long wave UV light. Fuchsite is often found as a matrix stone for many other stones such as Ruby, Kyanite and Quartz to name a few. It can be found worldwide but has main concentrations in South Africa, India, Brazil and Russia. It is the same Chromium in Fuchsite that gives Ruby its red color. Fuchsite and Ruby both form independently of each other, but occasionally occur together creating the beautiful combination stone Ruby Fuchsite.
