Info: Limonite Quartz is a Quartz with high iron ore concentration that is sometimes mistaken for Golden healer, however, Limonite Quartz is easy to identify as it is usually only a specimen in its raw form. Limonite also differs from Golden Healer as Golden Healer contains only inclusions of Limonite where as Limonite Quartz is seen as a coating on the exterior of points. Limonite is one of the three principal Iron ores, the others being Hematite and Magnetite. It can vary in colour from a bright yellow to a bland greyish brown. Limonite usually forms from the hydration of Hematite and Magnetite, from the oxidation and hydration of Iron rich minerals, and chemical weathering of other Iron rich minerals such as Olivine, Pyroxene, Amphibole, and Botite. Limonite Quartz is not water safe as the Iron content can react with water.
