Info: Prasiolite is also known as Green Quartz, Green Amethyst and Vermarine is a naturally occuring green variety of Quartz. Naturally occurring Prasiolite is rare and a very light translucent green color. Finding darker green specimens are usually the result of artificial treatment or heat treating Amethyst. Naturally occurring Prasiolite has also been found in deposits combined with Thunder Bay Amethyst in Canada but currently, the majority of all natural Prasiolite comes from Brazil. The name Prasiolite is derived from Greek “prason” meaning “leek” and “lithos” meaning “stone” resulting in the literal name “scallion stone” for the green scallion. Prasiolite in both natural and treated states are water safe.
