Info: Rainbow Obsidian is a dark colored Obsidian with a rainbow colored effect. Obsidian is produced from the rapid cooling of lava, which is rich in elements like silicon, oxygen, aluminium, sodium, and potassium, with minimal crystal growth. Obsidian has a glassy finish and is slightly harder than window glass. Though Obsidian is typically jet-black in colour, the presence of multicolored iridescence is thought to be caused by inclusions of Iron rich Hedenbergite nanoparticles and there are theories that it is also caused by one of the following: gas or fluid inclusions, light refraction, Bragg diffraction of visible light, and thin-film interference. Obsidian is water safe.
