Info: Sphalerite is a mineral that is the chief ore of Zinc. It is made up largely of Zinc Sulfide in crystalline form but almost always contains iron. It is usually found in association with minerals such as Fluorite, Pyrite, Galena, Dolomite, Quartz, and Calcite. Commonly purchased Sphalerite is often a combo of minerals. Sphalerite works its way into the veins, fractures and cavities in host rocks and minerals creating druzy, and can also replace some host rocks. This material produces beautiful druzy patterns and finding a specimen can make a beautiful statement piece for the collection. Sphalerite has no known toxicity ratings.
