Info: Topaz is a Gemstone that comes in various different colors as well as colorless. It can be imitated by Quartz but can be identified by its much heavier weight (comparing equal sized specimens) than Quartz or Glass, and unlike Quartz, can scratch glass upon contact. Topaz is most commonly found in colorless, which are irradiated to produce blue hues, also irradiating yellow produces pink. Impurities or inclusions make up other colors of natural Topaz, bringing forth the Imperial Topaz or Champagne Topaz, which is a naturally pale or golden yellow to pale orange Topaz. The medium to golden orange Topaz is referred to as Orange Topaz. Antique Topaz is darker shades, being more amber to brown. Topaz is a hard gemstone, being an 8 on the Mohs scale.
