There are over 40 different types of zeolites known to occur naturally. They form where volcanic material reacted with ground water that was alkaline. The crystallization occurs in shallow marine basins over the years. The zeolite group most commonly can include the following minerals: Stilbite, heulamdite, scolecite, mesolite, natrolite, and chabazite. They can also include apophyllite as well as okenite, prehnite and canvasite even though They are not zeolites. Many specimens of zeolites are mixes of different minerals.
